Dione Barbosa, a seasoned Judo practitioner since age 7, has achieved significant success in martial arts. Rising swiftly, she earned national and international titles by 15, attaining black belt status at 18. Representing Brazil in the London 2012 Olympic Games and Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, she left an indelible mark. Barbosa's proficiency extends beyond Judo; she's also a recognized Jiu Jitsu black belt. In 2017, Barbosa transitioned to MMA, excelling in both amateur and professional circuits after a Judo hiatus. Under the tutelage of master Rafael Cordeiro and mentorship MMA Hall of Famer Cris Cyborg, she pursued a UFC contract, moving to the USA in 2021 to refine her skills. Barbosa's journey took an unexpected turn on the Dana White Contender Series, where she had the chance to fight for her UFC contract. With only four days' notice and needing to shed 16 pounds (7.2 kg), she displayed sheer determination, winning her fight impressively in the first round to secure her UFC contract.
