Ruumet's journey began in Sindi, Estonia, a quiet town with just 4,000 residents. As a spirited youngster, she threw herself into activities like swimming, horse riding, table tennis, and even hip-hop dancing. However, it was Muay Thai that captured her heart at the age of 15, steering her onto a path few from her homeland had ventured. Just before her 17th birthday, "Snow Leopard" made a resolute commitment to Muay Thai, reaching out to numerous gyms in Thailand for sponsorship to train full-time. A gym in Chiang Mai accepted the challenge of molding this determined Estonian, prompting Ruumet to leave school and relocate to Thailand. She immersed herself so thoroughly in Thai culture that her fluency in the language earned praise, making it nearly impossible for native speakers to identify her as a foreigner over the phone. Facing formidable opponents, Ruumet proved herself among the best, eventually signing with ONE Championship. Recognizing the need for a memorable moniker, her team drew inspiration from her affection for wild cats, leading to the adoption of "Snow Leopard" during brainstorming sessions. Partnered with Top King Boxing, Marie Ruumet continues to make Estonia proud on the international stage.
